  • ! 2017 - 18 Course Selection for Current Students

FHS students will be receiving lots of information during upcoming weeks in order to make course selection decisions. Students will be beginning the process of course selection in February and course selections won't be finalized until March. Rest assured, there is adequate time to gather information about course choices--both academic and elective--and begin to organize a list of courses for next year and beyond. Although counselors don't typically meet individually with students/parents regarding course selection, students will be receiving teacher and parent input about the best course of study for next year in both academic and elective classes. Teachers and counselors will be assisting students in entering their courses into Infinite Campus in early March. Just a reminder, there is extensive information about the FHS curricular offerings on the FHS course selection section of the counseling website, including the 2017-18 FHS Course Description Guide, and links to the course request forms for each grade level. Students and parents are encouraged to access the FHS Honors program website for specific questions about AP/IB/PIB course offerings and pathways. We have a proven history of students being successfully placed in courses every year and we are confident that students, teachers, and parents will work collaboratively to make these decisions.

  • ! Graduation is Sunday, May 21!

SENIORS: GRADUATION is just around the corner. Seniors, you are responsible for monitoring your grades, credits, and graduation requirements. Check with your counselor and/or the Attendance Office if you have any questions about your graduation status. This is not a time to let up on your grades. Graduation may be at risk when grades drop or students stop attending class. It is possible that with a drastic drop in grades, colleges may use the right to rescind offers of acceptance. Keep up your good work! Not yet applied to college? College applications are still being accepted by many colleges throughout the spring semester. Come to the Counseling Office College/Career Center for help. https://www.fairviewhs.org/counseling/college-applications/applying-to-college-start-here

  • ! College Application Deadlines

See our NEW video “Requesting your transcripts” for info on filling out your Green Sheet. If you need to request counselor letter of rec there are additional steps of completing the parent brag sheet and student questionnaire. Parents call Jill 720-561-3212, if you need help with your brag sheet/Naviance access. Please note the Common Application DOES require a letter of recommendation from the Counselor, and may also require one or two teacher letters as well. See our new step-by-step application reference guide for help. Most non-common app schools ask for teacher letter, not counselor letter. For all college applications needing a letter of rec from your counselor by February 1, the deadline is December 15.
