International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement
FHS is committed to offering a comprehensive, demanding curriculum. Our programs of study offer a broad range of learning opportunities that foster personal growth, intellectual maturity, and independent thought.
Fairview High School offers honors-level Pre-IB courses in grades 9-10 to prepare students for rigorous IB courses offered in grades 11-12. Both the full IB diploma and IB certificate pathways are offered, with many students combining IB and AP. Currently, 8% of our seniors are pursuing the full diploma, 46% are preparing for IB certificates, and many will take a combination of AP exams and IB exams. Enrollment to both programs is open to all students.
Fifteen AP subjects are offered at FHS. Both AP and IB students take AP tests in individual subjects. In 2019, 556 students took exams in 21 subjects, thereby gaining the possibility of earning college credit and/or advanced placement. Of those, 85% received a score of 3 or higher.
