What to bring to Summit Camp -
Food at Camp:
Players will not go hungry at camp. If there are any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know so we can take care of your son. We really need to know if there is a peanut allergy, we go through a lot of peanut butter and can make sure there is a dedicated prep area in the kitchen if needed. We also need to know about gluten or lactose intolerant kids and vegetarian eaters. We have the capability to take care of these needs. While we are not a short order kitchen, we will provide special meals for kids that truly need them. Picky eaters can have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, along with fruit and other goodies.
Parent Help Needed: Sign Up Here
Parents are more than welcome and absolutely encouraged to come help out at Summit Camp. We don't assign specific duties and times, but please know that we will find something for you to do.
Ground rules for kitchen work at Gilpin County High School are as follows - No open toe shoes. If you show up in sandals, you will not be allowed in the kitchen. Tank tops, tube tops and the like are also not allowed, so please bring a cover-up to wear in the kitchen. Comfortable clothes including shorts and t-shirts are fine. Kids are not allowed in the kitchen, this includes players and siblings. We are guests at Gilpin, and they really do let us run the show, so we need to be mindful and respectful of these rules.
Here are the times we need volunteers in the kitchen:
Breakfast - start prep work at 6:30 am, freshman eat at 7:45 am, jv/varsity eat at 8:00 am
Lunch - start prep work at 10:00 am, freshman eat at 11:30 am, jv/varsity eat at 12:30 pm
Dinner - start prep work at 3:00 pm, freshman eat at 5:30 pm, jv/varsity eat at 6:00 pm
Again, we will use everybody who walks in the kitchen. We are doing a lot of prep work for meals, baking cookies and brownies, cutting up fruits and vegetables, making breakfast burritos, etc., so know that you will be busy and very much appreciated by the coordinators, the coaches and most importantly, your kids! Contact Laurie (303)588-0605 with any volunteer questions.
