Number Theory Club

Welcome to Number Theory Club!

What is number theory you ask? It is essentially the study of patterns and relationships between numbers, especially of the natural numbers (1,2,3...)

We will look into topics that are not generally covered in standard math classes (and are way more interesting). A few of the topics we will cover are primes, modular arithmetic, cryptography, and factorization. No prior experience is required! We will start simple and go from there!

What we will do:

  1. Kahoots!
  2. Mini Competitions!
  3. Riddles!
  4. Proofs! (But only cool ones)
Led by the one and only

2nd Meeting - 3/11/20

Posted on March 11, 2020

Today we went over Diophantine Equations and used them to solve a cool Ted-Ed riddle! They are far cooler and interesting than they sound! There will likely be a Kahoot on Diophantines next week! Hope to see you all there next week!

First Meeting - 3/4/20

Posted on March 04, 2020

First meeting was EPIC!! There were roughly 15 people present. We did a number theory kahoot and a cool (but incorrect) proof that showed that 1+2+3+4+... = -1/12. Check out this Numberphile video to see the proof. Hope to see you guys there next week!
Credits to Mark (who also won the kahoot) for finding this epic meme.
