New To FHS Tech Theatre????

Welcome all new and interested students! ALL students are welcome to join the technical theatre family, there are no pre-requisites or requirements! All you need is a good attitude and the desire to work with a really incredible group of people who love to get wild, weird, and play, just as much as work hard and kick butt! This semester there will be NO in person meetings, please be sure to download the free smart phone app "band" and search for "FHS Tech Theatre" in order to see the most up to date information about the group. Hello FHS Technical Theatre students! Wondering what this year is going to look like for the theatre world???? So am I! As this semester we are in phase 1 of learning, virtual entirely, there will be no in person productions in our beloved auditorium in order to support the reduced spread of COVID-19 and keep everyone safe and healthy. Be sure to check our group smart app "band" for updates in regards to what kinds of virtual events and activities we will be doing in order to maintain our amazing community!

This spring, 2020, Fairview will be putting on the production of 'Clue" for our play! If you have interest in technical theatre leadership positions for this show please see the call board for available positions and interview sign ups. Our call board is located by the back auditorium door across from the Fine Arts hallways. You do not have to interview to be involved in build or run crew! Build for this set will commence in January upon return from winter break.
Middle School Build

Platt, Southern Hills, and Manhattan, come and build the set for "She Kills Monsters" with us Wednesday, February 7th from 4:00-5:30pm at the FHS auditorium! Our doors will be open to any and all middle schoolers currently involved in or just interested in Technical Theatre. Come and work hands on with the high schoolers and see what and FHS after school build is like! For a permission slip please see your middle school music/theatre teacher. Please wear closed toed shoes and comfy clothes to work in. We look forward to meeting more people passionate about Tech Theatre!

Come and check out the Technical Theatre booth at the freshmen orientation club fair this Wednesday, August 16th. The fair will take place through the duration of the afternoon mock schedule for the freshmen class so stop and by and meet some of the faces of tech! We would love to have you join the team : )

Pops Leadership Interviews

Students interested in leadership for the spring variety show "Pops" should see the call board to sign up for an interview time slot Tuesday, March 7th, or Wednesday March 8th. Please have with you an updated resume and/or portfolio of previous work. Be sure to include in your objective what position you would like to be considered for! Students interested in build and/or run crew do not need to interview. Run crew for shows is selected based off of build attendance.
Students interested in scenic design should have with them a scenic concept to present in order to be considered.

Don't forget about the Tech Theatre Banquet this Friday, May 13th at 6:30pm in the FHS Auditorium!!!
$12 per person was due for dinner April 29th by the end of the day. If I do not have your payment and dinner form please feel free to join us but I ask that you bring your own dinner.

Final Tom Sawyer Updates

Thank you to everyone who came out on Friday to help complete the set and paint the stage! It was a LONG afternoon/evening but we did it! I will be spending my off periods and lunches when possible this week to finish painting the tree and gluing on a bunch of fake moss. Anyone who would like to assist with that would be greatly appreciated!
This week will be an off week for all run crew members to be home, do homework, and get good rest before tech week kicks off! This is what I expect of the following positions who do not have a full week off (this can be done with Ms. H during off periods if pre-arranged):
TD and TD apprentice - ENSURE the set is complete and no additional elements are needed (including set dressings with props crew).
Sound designer and ops - full set up and test of equipment. Sound cues are needed for meeting this Thursday! Get into rehearsals after school if needed to observe any runs of acts.
Lighting designer and apprentices - Finish gels and focus of lights as well as program starting points for whole show for consideration during tech week. Cues are needed for meeting this Thursday! Get into rehearsals after school to observe runs of acts.
Props - completion of gathering all final needed props for use during rehearsal this Saturday the 20th (no new lists have been sent my way so I am assuming no ordering needs to be done). Communicate with Boyer to ensure nothing else is needed!
Costumes - last week with full time to make big alterations! Go through the show and your list of cast and ensure you have everything you need!
SM - continue to be in rehearsals with cast. Start the process of tracking scene changes and assist ASMs in creating these charts.
ASMs - coordinate with SM to create your backstage scene change charts prepped and ready for this Saturday the 20th
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to recruit at Knight of Transition tomorrow night for next year! Please plan to wear a clean tech shirt and bring a friendly welcoming face! I am not sure where our table will be but if I can hook us up next to Art in the student center I will.
THIS THURSDAY during CAT time and lunch in room 514 we will have our final tech production meeting and prep for all of tech week that is mandatory for the following positions: TD, SM, ASMs, all Lights, all Sound, costumes, props, and cast coordinators. Maya will be running this meeting, please have your scripts in binders ready to go to make this meeting productive and efficient. Please also bring a lunch with you so you do not have to take time from the group to leave and get lunch.
Run crew, remember your first official mandatory call back is this Saturday the 20th. Be sure to check the calendar on the call board or on the website page I have made us for your times. Feel free to bring homework, but my plan is to have us all sitting together observing the progress of the show so we get a feel for the flow of our scene changes, as well as changing the set as needed for their rehearsal. I do not believe any food is provided this day! I would plan to pack a lunch just in case.
Crew shirts! I will be putting a full sign up list on the call board tomorrow. PLEASE by the end of the week, put the size you would like and the preferred name for the back of the shirt on this sheet so I can order our shirts (last names are preferred). If I get anything past the end of this week you will not be getting a crew shirt!
Feel free to find me/email me with any questions you may have before Saturday. For the majority of you with the week off PLEASE make good use of it and rest up before tech week begins! Have a great week everyone!
