The Colorado Youth in Government program is a program sponsored by the YMCA and supports the notion that "Democracy must be learned by every generation." Every Thanksgiving week, teenage delegates representing high schools from all over Colorado convene at the State Capitol in Denver and run a Model Legislature for three days. Every facet of the state government is replicated in this program: students can be House Representatives, Senators, Supreme Court Justices, lobbyists, press members, pages, and more. The program is both extremely fun and the perfect way for students to learn more about government in a very hands-on way; allowing them to personally experience what is taught in the classroom.
